“This set of works titled More Than Meets the Eye spans a number of years. Images, primarily from the 1980’s and 1990’s. The series is comprised of large photographs of Artist’s Installations I have worked on and photographed over the years and has developed it into a body of my own work. Considered my own as they work to take the visual experience to another level beyond just a document.
I consider these images important enough to produce large scale photographs. They are illustrations of important artworks by Artists that I have worked with directly as well as making the resulting photo documentation upon the works completion.
I believe that these images can stand alone as an artwork, if they are stunning enough; at the same time, be a document of an Artist’s work.
This series of Installation Photographs is titled More Than Meets the Eye to reflect that David had more to do with these artworks beyond the production of the photographs. He also worked in many cases with the Artist in the making of the artwork. David feels that this participation informs himself as a photographer when it comes to the vision of the artwork.”
